Join renowned watercolour artist Chan Dissanayake for an unforgettable 7-day painting experience along the spectacular NSW Sapphire Coast. Based in Merimbula for the week, the workshop explores a captivating variety of coastal landscapes, working harbours, historic villages and peaceful rural scenery.
From the turquoise waters and river mouth of Pambula to the historic Tathra Wharf, the fishing boats of Eden, the heritage streets of Candelo and Cobargo, and the rolling countryside of the Bega Valley, each day offers fresh inspiration and a diverse range of painting subjects.
Whether you are new to watercolour or an experienced artist, Chan’s supportive and engaging teaching style will help you strengthen your skills, develop confidence and capture the atmosphere of this beautiful coastal region.

Tour Plan
🛬 Day 1 – Arrival in Merimbula
Day 1 – Arrival in Merimbula
Arrive in Merimbula and settle into the group accommodation. Meet Chan and fellow participants for a welcome and orientation session. Evening: Welcome dinner.🏞️ Day 2 – Pambula River Mouth & Village
Day 2 – Pambula River Mouth & Village
Travel to Pambula River Mouth for a morning painting session featuring turquoise water, sandy shores, rocks and distant headlands. After lunch, continue to Pambula Village or the surrounding rural landscape for an afternoon painting session.🌿 Day 3 – Tathra Wharf & Kianinny Bay
Day 3 – Tathra Wharf & Kianinny Bay
Spend the morning painting the historic Tathra Wharf, with its timber structure and dramatic ocean backdrop. After lunch, continue to Kianinny Bay to paint fishing boats, sheltered water, rocks and surrounding bushland.⛰️ Day 4 – Candelo & Bega Valley
Day 4 – Candelo & Bega Valley
Travel inland to the historic village of Candelo to paint its charming streetscapes, heritage buildings and verandahs. In the afternoon, explore the rolling countryside of the Bega Valley, followed by a visit to the Bega Cheese Heritage Centre.🌅 Day 5 – Eden Harbour
Day 5 – Eden Harbour
Travel south to Eden for a full day of maritime painting. Capture fishing boats, jetties and harbour reflections at Quarantine Bay or Snug Cove, followed by an afternoon session at Cocora Beach or Aslings Beach.🌄 Day 6 – Cobargo & Bermagui
Day 6 – Cobargo & Bermagui
Visit the heritage village of Cobargo to paint its historic façades, verandahs and rural streetscape. After lunch, continue to Bermagui for a coastal painting session featuring the harbour, fishing boats and surrounding headlands. Return to Merimbula for the final critique session and farewell dinner.👋 Day 7 – Departure
