Tour Plan

1

DAY 1 – Monday 17 November

🛬 Arrival in Queenstown • 🍷 Welcome Drinks & 🍽️ Dinner

Guests arrive in Queenstown and make their way to our centrally located 4★ hotel.
Nestled beside Lake Wakatipu, the area offers lake walks, cafés and art shops all within easy reach.

In the early evening, we gather for welcome drinks 🍷 followed by an included group dinner 🍽️.
The tutor introduces the week’s painting plan and participants meet their fellow travellers — a perfect start to an inspiring creative journey.

DAY 2 – Tuesday 18 November

🎨 Queenstown Waterfront & Gardens (Walking Day) 🌿

This morning we explore the Queenstown lakefront, only a short walk from the hotel.
The tutor begins with a lakeside demonstration 🎨 focusing on reflections, mountains and composition.
Participants enjoy their first plein-air painting session by the water.

After lunch, we stroll to the Queenstown Gardens 🌳 for the afternoon session — peaceful spots, mountain views and gorgeous light.
A gentle walking day with no coach required.

DAY 3 – Wednesday 19 November

🚌 Scenic Transfer to Glenorchy • 🎨 Painting & 🌄 Light Lunch Included

A scenic coach ride takes us along the shoreline to the breathtaking township of Glenorchy 🏞️.
Famous for its dramatic peaks and serene waterfront, Glenorchy is a painter’s paradise.

The tutor conducts a morning demonstration 🎨 near the iconic boatshed.
After an included light lunch 🍱, we continue painting around the lagoon and boardwalk before returning to Queenstown late afternoon.

Evening at leisure.

DAY 4 – Thursday 20 November

🚌 Arrowtown Painting Day • 🎨 Heritage Streets & Autumn Colours

Today we visit Arrowtown — a charming gold-rush village known for its stone cottages and tree-lined avenues.
The tutor leads a demonstration exploring light, shadow and perspective 🎨.

Painters can select scenes from historic buildings, mountain backdrops, or quiet river spots.
Everything is within easy walking distance.
Return to Queenstown in the late afternoon.

Evening free.

DAY 5 – Friday 21 November

🚌 Queenstown ➜ Wanaka (Painting Stop 🎨) ➜ Lake Tekapo 🏨

We check out of our Queenstown hotel and begin our journey toward Lake Tekapo.
Along the way, we stop in Wanaka 🏞️ for a memorable mid-journey painting session.

The tutor guides a shorter plein-air session beside Lake Wanaka, famous for its peaceful atmosphere and mountain views.
After lunch (own arrangement), we continue to Tekapo, checking into our accommodation overlooking the lake.

A relaxing evening by the turquoise waters 🌊.

DAY 6 – Saturday 22 November

🎨 Full Painting Day in Lake Tekapo • 🌄 Church of the Good Shepherd

Today we immerse ourselves in the beauty of Lake Tekapo, known for its vibrant turquoise water and open sky.
The morning features a demonstration 🎨 near the Church of the Good Shepherd — one of New Zealand’s most iconic scenes.

The afternoon continues with painting sessions along the lakeshore and surrounding viewpoints.
Enjoy the calm evening — Tekapo is part of the Dark Sky Reserve 🌌.

DAY 7 – Sunday 23 November

🚌 Day Trip to Aoraki / Mount Cook • 🎨 Alpine Painting Day

A spectacular day awaits as we travel into Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park 🏔️ — home to New Zealand’s highest peak.

We spend the day painting glacial valleys, vivid lakes, and dramatic alpine forms under the tutor’s guidance.
Expect strong contrasts, atmospheric colours, and endless inspiration 🎨.

Return to Tekapo late afternoon for a relaxing evening.

DAY 8 – Monday 24 November

🛫 Departure • Check-Out 🧳

After breakfast, we farewell Lake Tekapo and complete check-out.
Transfers travel to Queenstown Airport for flights departing from early afternoon onward.

With sketchbooks full and hearts full, we say goodbye to new friends — until the next Painting Holiday Tour 🌟.
